Computer Litracy and Awareness Programe
Ministry of Youth Affairs is running a project named Mobile Youth Computer Literacy and Awareness Programme through mobile computer van. The details and rationale of the programme are as under: More than ¼ of our population comprises of youth in the age group of 15-29 years. Of this almost 63 percent resides in rural areas. It is a vital and vibrant human resource of the country. The current century is referred to as the knowledge age with the backbone as Information Communication Technology (ICT). Computers in particular, have revolutionized our lives as they have greatly helped in enhancing efficiency, productivity, quality and across to world wide pool of knowledge resources. It is also a tremendous tool for communication and networking. It will not be an exaggeration to say that computers coupled with internet provide a window from any location to the entire world. Computer literacy is the key to open this window.3. Realizing the importance of imparting ICT exposure, training to rural and slum dwelling young people who are otherwise deprived from such opportunities, the Ministry of Youth Affairs has been providing basic computer knowledge/awareness/training to the youth in the far and underdeveloped/rural areas through a mobile van donated by Common Wealth (CYP Asia).The objective of this programme is to enhance the capabilities of youth in the rural/ underdeveloped areas for the use of computers and modern IT disciplines through mobile computer van and subsequently provide them computer facility so that the training is gainfully utilized. So far, the training programme has been completed successfully in the following areas and training has been imparted to 360 youth.
